Rose to miss season for Chicago

NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers at Chicago Bulls

In an all to familiar scenario Derrick Rose was helped off the court with his patented Adidas Techfit padded knee sleeve folded down. The limp we have seen over and over again for the last 19 months. The nightmare of all things Chicago Bulls has come to life and it was staring us right in the face. Derrick was injured just 10 games into his comeback campaign.

With a torn medial meniscus in his right knee, Derrick underwent surgery Monday morning to repair it. After a successful procedure the Bulls waisted no time announcing Derrick Rose is out for the entire 2013-14 NBA season. Derrick will begin rehab soon and look to once again prove the critics wrong. The media is already questioning him. Will he be the same player? Is he finished? Will he ever play another healthy season again? The comparisons of Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill are beginning to surface.

A player that puts everything he has into the game of basketball. To be so humble, so down to earth, and with such a big heart, with news of yet another terrible injury couldn’t have happened to better person. What is important for the fans to hear is the team expects him to make a full recovery. His doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Most importantly Derrick believes wholeheartedly he will come back and be the Derrick we all know and love. This time around, he has a lot more critics to fight off.

The second time around I can tell it will be a different process. There will be no circus show. No waiting game, and definitely no news of him being medically cleared and now we await the mental hurdle. The organization did the exact thing they should have done mid-season last year. Ruled him out early to avoid any public scrutiny on their star player. You won’t see #TheReturn2. No distraction for his teammates being asked after every practice, every game, how Derrick looks. How Derrick feels. This time around it will be all business and the Bulls will move forward from this injury and not look back on what might have been. They have to.

For a kid who has all of the money, all of the fame, the lifestyle and all the things that come with it, the flash, what is being taken away from him at such a young age in his own words is everything.
